Travelling by Tuba
On 27th March 2009 'Travelling by Tuba' duet introduced the children to a wonderful range of Wind and Brass instruments. They also provided workshops and in a concert, after school, entertained our parents.

French Assembly

Madame Bristow and her French groups from Keys Stages One and Two, performed a Nativity based assembly for parents and pupils.
Children sang, spoke and even prayed in French.
It was a wonderful start to our school Christmas Celebrations.

All pupils within our school have prepared well for their respective Nativity Productions.
The local paper, Evening Gazette took photos this week - look out for the supplement. Children from our Nursery, Reception, Key Stage One and Two classes will hopefully all appear.

Blackpool Schools' "Plate" Winners

Congratulations to our Boys' Football Team who won the Schools' Plate on Wednesday 26th November, at Stanley Park.
Well done to all the team.

Blackpool Schools' "Cup" Winners

Congratulations to our Girls' Football Team who won the Schools' Cup at Stanley Park on Wednesday 26th November - in the afternoon!
What a successful day for our footballers. Watch out for two newspaper articles, written on the events by Year 6, coming to the website soon!
I'm a Councillor Get Me Out Of Here!
During October our school council took part in an exciting project:

Mrs Barnes and Mrs Duke helped our pupils e-mail questions to our local councillors and then vote on who they thoughtshould leave the "jungle"
Our local press commented:
"It’s been a gruelling two weeks for the finalists of I’m a Councillor, Get me out of Here! but the wait is over, the votes have been counted and the ‘I’m A Councillor Youth Champion 2008’ for Blackpool Council is Cllr Doreen
Holt – congratulations!!
It was a close finish, with Cllr Ron Bell being evicted first, followed by Cllr Mrs Sylvia Taylor, Cllr Fred Jackson, Cllr Steve Houghton and Cllr Julian Mineur.
Music Evening 2008

Children across our school took part in a music evening.
We heard brass, strings and percussion instruments and celebrated our talented young people.
Youth Games
In July St Bernadette's children took part in the town's Youth Games 2008. Children in Key Stages One and Two had the opportunity to enter into tournaments and competitions with schools from across Blackpool. Each child received a medal and a certificate for taking part.
These included: a Road Race, a cheer leading challenge, an athletics competition as well as Kwik Cricket, Rugby and Football Tournaments. Children performed with great skill winning medals and awards!
Our football team won an award for their “Team Spirit!” Our athletics group came, “joint first” with St John’s. Our netball team came first!

Digital Media Competition
On Wednesday 18th June Mrs Smith took representatives from our KS2 department to the Odeon Cinema, to view their Blackpool Digital Media Competition entries
We submitted 10 entries altogether. We were very successful winning three first prizes and a third place.
The Each winning group received an IPOD shuffle as their prize!
These will ensure we can make even more winning entries in the future.
